I ran out of word limit. So here’s my detailed reply.
Disclaimer: This isn’t my direct observation but my current view based on what I’ve read and studied, primarily from Madhyasth Darshan, and I find logically coherent.
When I look at the whole of existence, I can see two distinct realities: Space and Units.
The space is all-pervading and uniform all around. It’s the base of all activities/units. But it’s not an activity itself. (If it was an activity, it wouldn’t be uniform)
And then we have units — Whatever we see and we can draw a six-sided boundary around. A stone, a piece of chalk, a dog, a human being, all can be seen as units.
And all units are made up of atoms. Different types of atoms coming together in different ways to create those units.
Now, there seems to be an order in these units. When atoms come together as a stone, they behave quite differently than when they come together as a whale.
Starting out, we can see each unit as part of the material order. Every unit is made up of atoms. And atoms are made of atomic particles. Material can change from one type to another, but it can neither be created nor be destroyed. Atoms can come together to form a new unit. Or a unit can break down into atoms. And this process is continuous.
Now some of the units above unlock a new capability - They are able to breathe and grow. Plants can be easily contrasted with stones. They have the properties of stone — they are made up of atoms, they change form, etc. But they are able to do more. They grow. They breathe. And for that, they can select which other materials are needed for them to grow. Roots has several materials in the ground to choose from. Out of those materials they choose what is suitable for their growth.
They can also affect each other’s growth. Some of them can help others grow while others can hinder growth of other plants. So, they can be kept in the plant order.
Animal and Human order - to be continued..
